Phoenix AZ –News crews report today about a phoenix air conditioning crane  falling  on a homes roof, while a ac company was trying to install a new unit.  The home owners whose names are reported to be  Gabriel and Gloria Escamillio,  they have lived at that location for more than 30 years.  In a older neighborhood as you look around most surrounding air conditioning’s have already been replaced with out incident . This just a case of  a freak accident. With a large hole now in their home. The fire marshal has made it clear that no one may enter the home until a structural engineer is able to to inspect the home.  They will be staying with friends till repairs can be made.

 

It was a problem with the crane that actually caused the accident, one of the joint connections of the crane’s boom had failed causing the air conditioning unit to come crashing on to the Escamillio’s roof top.  Smiley crane was the crane performing the ac lift. Normally crane companies carry insurance for accidents like this. All crane companies inspect their crane’s before leaving the yard for the day. For common problems with air conditioning cranes their is a alarm the sounds. This seems like just something snapped and could not have been prevented. Crane accidents are very rare in the air conditioning industry despite the frequency of use of cranes. The safety record is pretty remarkable.

 

The good news in the whole incident is that no one got injured . Luckily all the damage should be repairable, the only problem is securing the gaping whole in the roof before it rains. The weather forecast does call for rain later in the week.
